HOLLY'S WHEELCHAIR APPEAL

Holly gets her new wheelchair in time to do 'Race for Life!'

14 year old Holly was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at 23 months old. She was managing her mobility very well, however Holly was beginning to experience pain and weakness which forced her to increase the amount of time spent in her NHS wheelchair. As this wheelchair was very bulky and heavy she was unable to take part in school activities which was very frustrating for her.

Holly's mum approached us for help as Holly was desperate to have a new super duper lightweight wheelchair, the Panthera U2 costing £2,500. Ideally she dreamed of having it in time for her to participate in the 'Race for Life' charity event in Guildford on 16 June.

Lifeline 4 Kids agreed to part fund the cost and we also decided to order the wheelchair to ensure that it arrived on time for Holly's challenge! In the meantime, Holly's family embarked on an intensive programme of fundraising. Holly's Mum organised events including a rugby tournament fundraising day at Farnborough Rugby Club with raffles and BBQ. Amazingly more than enough was raised to cover the cost of the wheelchair so Lifeline 4 Kids and another charity shared the additional amount.

We are delighted that Holly was able to do Race for Life and her story hit the headlines of the local newspaper:- Click here to read

Well done Holly and special thanks to your fantastic and energetic Mum Jo who really made it all happen!
