New bed/bedding for Kira

Kira F. aged 12 has Autism, Severe Global Developmental Delay, Epilepsy and Severe Learning Difficulties and an Ataxic Gait. Kira has no functioning speech, has challenging sleeping patterns and is doubly incontinent.

Kira on average had been sleeping about 4-5 hours a night and was on her third mattress and her second base in eighteen months and an unknown amount of bedding as unfortunately she had soiled every bed and the bedding. Kira's devoted parents tried waterproof mattress protectors but she either pulled them off the bed or destroyed them.

Social Services refused funding for a suitable replacement bed and bedding, so Kira's Mum and Dad asked us to help with a specialist waterproof mattress, waterproof pillows and mattress covers and replacement bed. Although more expensive, these would last far longer and therefore prove much more suitable.

After carefully assessing Kira's needs we had no hesitation in funding the cost of a new pine bed base, a memory foam waterproof mattress, a fully encapsulating waterproof mattress cover, a waterproof pillow, waterproof double quilt and two custom made sleep suits.

All these have now been delivered and Kira's Dad thanked us by saying "The items Lifeline 4 Kids purchased for us have made a HUGE difference, not only to Kira, but to us as well, we recently enjoyed our first unbroken night's sleep in 7 years! The Sunday morning lie-in felt like all our Christmases had come at once! We can't thank Lifeline 4 Kids enough."

Good luck to Kira and to her devoted parents.
