Major appeal for specialised equipment including sensory garden and playground equipment.
Mapledown School in Cricklewood, London is a specialist school with 61 children aged 11-19 with severe and profound disabilities. Some children have a maximum ability of a 7-year old, some have 5-6 year old ability and there are a range of very complex non verbal children. There are 50 dedicated members of staff. Presently there are 8 classrooms and 2 extra ones are being built for an intake of another 15 children. The school has various needs including a hoisting gantry system to enable children to stand and walk, two interactive whiteboard systems, general outside playground equipment for various areas in the school grounds and a sensory garden. We have allocated a significant sum for their request to help improve the quality of life of the special children of Mapledown.
