Birtenshaw Hall School, Bolton

Request for "Acheeva" Learning Station
Birtenshaw Hall School, Bolton provides educational and recreational resources for children aged 3 -- 19 with profound learning difficulties. They asked us to help fund an Achiever Learning Station to help their most severely disabled children to take part in lessons alongside others. At present, children with very complex disabilities need to lay down either on their front, back or side, as they are unable to sit upright. An Achiever Learning Station would provide positioning with full support for a child. It would also improve breathing, digestion, body alignment and muscle tone. Without it a child has to lay on the floor or a flat bed making it difficult to interact with staff and other pupils and take part in lessons. The Acheeva Learning Station costs £3,100, £770 of which has already been raised by the school. We had no hesitation to fund the balance of £2,330 to ensure that they have this important piece of equipment.
