JJ's new chair

We are delighted to have been involved with improving this young lady's quality of life........

JJ who lives in Suffolk was born with a chromosome 15 abnormality, the consequences of which have seriously impacted her life. She was not expected to survive for long, but has proved to be something of a fighter, defying all of the medical predictions and deficiencies in care during her early years.

JJ's needs are complex and she experiences many difficulties due to the chromosome abnormality. These include profound learning difficulties, scoliosis (spinal curvature), microcephaly, a damaged heart valve, serious dietary problems, a propensity to pneumonia and pleurisy. Her communication is very limited and she is unable to walk or stand. Despite these and other problems, she maintains a happy disposition and enjoys a good quality of life. Because she cannot walk or stand, JJ spends a lot of time sitting, so seating that maintains good posture, support and comfort is absolutely essential for her wellbeing. Chairs that have the necessary features to meet JJ's requirements are very expensive.

JJ's devoted foster parents approached Lifeline 4 Kids for help and we joined with The Florence Nightingale Aid in Sickness Trust to provide the bulk of the funding. JJ's parents are very grateful to both the charities because without them, it is unlikely that JJ would have her new chair.
